The Hangover Wedding Scene

Warner Brothers

“The Hangover” is one of the summer’s biggest hits, and the beautiful garden wedding scene has been an inspiration for brides-to-be all over the world. Our mailboxes have been flooded with questions about the dresses, music, cake and jewelry. See what’s been asked so far.

We recently spoke with Assistant Costume Designer Alison McCosh who has helped us put together a guide to “The Hangover” wedding. Here we hope to answer some of your questions.

“The Hangover” Wedding Dress: The strapless silk organza wedding dress worn by Sasha Barrese, is Amsale’s “Tyler.” The gown retails for $4,000 but can also be found used at sites like Pre Owned Wedding Dresses and Party Pop.

“The Hangover” Bridesmaid Dresses: The strapless black cocktail dresses worn by the three bridesmaids in the film are by Bestey Johnson. The dresses were purchased from Bloomingdale’s in the Fall of 2008 and unfortunately may no longer be available. eDressMe has a similar version of the dress in white with a black sash.

J. Crew Flower Girl Dress

“The Hangover” Flower Girl Dresses: The adorable dresses worn by the flower girls are J. Crew’s Alison. Made of ivory silk taffeta and layered with festive tulle, the square neckline is topped off with a bow. In the movie, black sashes were added to the dress.

“The Hangover” Tuxedos: The sharp looking tuxes worn by Justin Bartha and his groomsmen are by Hugo Boss.

“The Hangover” Wedding Jewelry: The bridal necklace worn by Sasha Barrese is a pearl necklace by Damiani. Similar versions of the tin cup design are available at Neiman Marcus, Macy’s and American Bridal.

Wedding Cake from The Hangover

“The Hangover” Wedding Cake: The cake used in the movie is a faux cake created by CakeRentals.com. The four-tiered circular design was decorated with gardenias and orange roses. If you are looking to repiclate this cake, bring a photo to your local baker and they can re-create it for your big day.

“The Hangover” Wedding Band: The Dan Band performs a hilarious rendition of Fifty Cent’s “Candy Shop” as the bride and groom dance in the garden. See a clip of the scene on You Tube.

“The Hangover” Wedding Venue: The wedding was filmed at a private estate in Pasadena, California which can be rented out for television and movies. There are several similar outdoor garden venues in Pasadena which are available for weddings such as the Maxwell House, Castle Green, or the Cravens Estate.
