Sunday September 14, 2008 11:05 PM

George Takei at His Wedding With Star Trek Co-Stars“Star Trek” favorite George Takei married his partner of 21 years, Brad Altman, on September 14, 2008. The 5:30 p.m. nuptials took place at the Japanese American National Museum in downtown Los Angeles in front of 200 guests. A Buddhist priest led the ceremony, held in the courtyard of the museum as guests stood in a circle surrounding the couple. Takei’s “Star Trek” costars Nichelle Nichols and Walter Koenig were the maid of honor and best man. Following a sake ceremony, the couple recited their vows and exchanged silver and turquoise wedding bands designed by a Navajo silversmith. Guests cheered and raised their hands in the air as a Scottish bagpipe player led the recessional and everyone shot streamers into the air. The reception took place in the lobby of the museum and included a strawberry wedding cake and Japanese tea confections made from sweet bean paste.
