Sofia Coppola married Thomas Mars on August 27, 2011.

The Saturday evening civil ceremony took place in her grandparents hometown of Bernalda, Italy at the family villa, Palazzo Margherita.

The bride’s father, director Francis Ford Coppola, walked her down the aisle. She wore a sheer lavender tulle gown by Azzedine Alaïa designed for the occasion. The ceremony was officiated by Bernalda’s mayor, Leonardo Chiruzzi.

A reception followed where a locally-sourced menu of cheeses, figs, salads, pasta, fish and pork was served.
