Russell Brand and Katy Perry Wedding
Jaipur, India
October 23, 2010
Katy Perry and Russell Brand were married on October 23, 2010.
The wedding took place at Aman-i-Khas, a luxury resort in Northern India, and was planned by Mindy Weiss.
The traditional Indian ceremony included two elephants who walked a red carpet and a wedding procession, known as the “bharat,” where the groom arrived in a buggy pulled by a white horse. He was escorted to his bride by Rajasthani dancers and camel riders.
Perry wore a gray dress by Elie Saab Haute Couture and custom Casadei shoes including one-of-a-kind $7,000 beaded satin heels for the ceremony and sparkling flat sandals for the reception.
During the ceremony Indian instruments were played and traditional Rajasthani folk musicians sang. Sacred Vedic chanting also took place.
The vows were officiated by a Hindu priest along with one of Perry’s family friends.
The reception took place in a tent strung with orange, red and yellow ribbons and decorated with marigold garlands.
Food included local delicacies, for which the ingredients were sourced from Bajaria, a market town.
The couple spent their wedding night in a luxury tent.
Perry and Brand’s 5-day wedding celebration started with a Bollywood-style feast featuring snake charmers, fire jugglers and dancers.
