‘Grey’s Anatomy’: Meredith Won’t Take Mc Dreamy’s Name

Meredith Grey will not be taking her married name on “Grey’s Anatomy” this season.
Grey and Derek Shepherd were married in last year’s season finale when they signed a marriage contract on a Post-it note.
“She doesn’t have to change her name to love him,” series creator Shonda Rhimes says on her Twitter page. “Many women do not change their names. Ever. And Mer is one of them.”
The real life Mrs. McDreamy, Ellen Pompeo, celebrated her second wedding anniversary with Christopher Ivery this week. The couple were married on November 9, 2007 at City Hall in New York City.
