Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou Hold African Wedding Ceremony

Kimora Lee Simmons and Djimon Hounsou were married last summer in an African wedding ceremony.
According to the New York Daily News, the couple tied the knot in Benin where Hounsou is from. Although the marriage is not legally binding in the U.S., (Kimora was legally married to Russell Simmons at the time) friends say Simmons refers to Hounsou as her husband.
“Both Kimora and Djimon wore traditional dashikis,” reports the Daily News. “She went whole hog with the African theme. There were African drums, a traditional ceremony with dancers . . . they even had a hut!”
Kimora’s two daughters, Aoki and Ming, were present for the ceremony. After the vows, the family headed to Paris to celebrate Aoki’s sixth birthday and a romantic honeymoon.
