Kris Humphries proposed to Kim Kardashian with a whopping 20.5-carat engagement ring designed by Lorraine Schwartz . The 16.5-carat emerald center stone is flanked by two-carat trapezoid diamonds on each side.
“The emerald cut center is a classic cut, but the trapezoids modernize the style,” jewelry expert Michael O’Connor tell Celebrity Bride Guide. “Since the center diamond is rectangular shaped, it elongates Kim’s hand, making the ring look even more elegant.”
Kim’s ring is valued at approximately $2 million and set in platinum, a naturally white metal that won’t fade over time.
“Lorraine Schwartz is known for excellent quality diamonds so it’s extremely important that no color is cast in the center stone, therefore the diamond must be set in platinum,” O’Connor says.
