Elizabeth Smart married Matthew Gilmour on Saturday in Hawaii.

The wedding took place at the Mormon Temple in Laie on the North Shore of Oahu.

“She decided, about a week ago, the best way to avoid significant distraction was to change her wedding plans and to get married in an unscheduled ceremony outside of Utah,” family spokesperson Chris Thomas explains, adding that the couple will go on a honeymoon in an undisclosed location.

Smart and Gilmour met on a mission in France.

They confirmed their engagement in January.
