David Arquette and Courteney Cox Wedding

San Francisco, California

June 12, 1999

David Arquette and Courteney Cox were married on June 12, 1999 at Grace Cathedral in San Francisco. Over 200 guests were in attendance, including Jennifer Aniston, Brad Pitt, Nicolas Cage, Matthew Perry and Lisa Kudrow. Courteney walked down the aisle on the arm of her father, Richard, to “Maybe I’m Amazed” by Paul McCartney. She wore a Valentino silk-crepe gown, with embroidered stripes and a tulle veil attached to a silk-flowered headpiece. She also held a bouquet of red roses.

The bridal party consisted of five groomsmen and five bridesmaids, including David’s sisters, Rosanna Arquette and Patricia Arquette, along with best man, brother Lewis Arquette.

The ceremony was officiated by Reverend Douglas Carpenter, a minister from Courteney’s hometown of Birmingham, Alabama, and included elements of the couple’s Episcopalian and Jewish faiths. They exchanged traditional vows and wedding bands inscribed with the phrase, “A deal is a deal.” At the conclusion, David took part in the Jewish wedding ritual of breaking a glass, and the two were pronounced husband and wife. Before walking back up the aisle, the couple danced at the altar to a gospel choir.

Following the nuptials, a reception was held at Bimbo’s 365 Club. Guests feasted on salad, lobster and steak, while entertained by Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz impersonators. Following dinner, a multi-tier wedding cake was served, and two different bands played until 1 a.m.

The couple honeymooned in Anguilla at Cap Juluca.
